Pinara cana (Neat Pinara)

Pinara cana and an undescribed species near Pinara divisa have been recorded regularly in the ACT.  The females can be separated by their forewing colour: P. cana females are off white grading to grey towards the leading edge and across the front of the thorax, and the undescribed species near divisa is a light yellowish-brown at the base of the wing and on the thorax, becoming darker brown towards the end of the wing (or brown all over).  The males can be separated by the extent of the broad light bar on the forewing - it is consistently a little longer on P. cana - and by the extent of the orange on the hindwing - there is more orange on P. divisa.

Pinara cana is listed in the following regions:

Canberra & Southern Tablelands  |  Albury, Wodonga
