Fantastic Susan! This is now described as a New species of butterfly! Congratulations on your amazing find!
And well done Canberra Nature Map on providing the platform on which this amazing discovery could be recorded and, well, discovered!
YAY!
And there are now 159 sightings of this butterfly on CNM in less than three years since it was discovered by Susan. Wow!

Safe to key to Angophora sp. based on the globular ribbed hairy buds. The opposite sessile ovate leaves with amplexicaul base and greyish flaky-fibrous bark are similar to Angophora hispida which is often planted.

I don’t think so? I’ll check (when the rain stops!)

looking back through older photos I think this is a spent case (in same spot for months/year..... see also moss/lichen/algae on case) I did spot another recently, will check it for movement. They are on dead twigs of Melaleuca armillaris which seems to be a favoured larval plant of many Lep sp here. Or Maybe they are easy to find on it.
