I think in the second image the Bristle fly is laying eggs in the larvae of the Bottlebrush sawfly. Given the hammering that this sawfly does to callistemons this fly should re regarded as a hero.

MAYBE ?? the wing pattern on these added crops hint at an ID? Sorry it was a poor quality (low pixel count) camera. My failure to adequately document the grasshoppers surprises me. I think, in ignorance, I thought back then only 1 type of grasshopper formed plagues.
