Around 90mm in length and possibly a Giant Valanga, the largest grasshopper on the continent. One very tough grasshopper this. It was originally seen inside a washing machine having survived a third of a wash cycle. It was removed and placed outdoors and four hours later had recovered enough to take off, much cleaner and warier for the experience. The third image shows soap suds around the grasshopper's body just after its washing machine encounter. Following sighting 4496144 provides some close-up details of the insect. Thanks to Barbara for the initial sighting.
