on iNaturalist: tony_d suggested an Genus Conops - a member of Thick-headed Flies Family Conopidae with teh comment: "Either Australoconops or Conops - no indication of ocelli, so the latter it seems."
I have been looking at the flowers of this specimen for the last 2 years without seeing anything visiting! But did the sepsid get inside? Tetrathecas are in the same family with hanging bell flowers and are very occasionally visited by bees. One sighting in 5 years!
