Frogs

Frogs belong to a group of animals called amphibians. All Australian amphibians are frogs. There are about 4000 frog species worldwide and Australia has 208 frog species; many of these are endemic - that is, they are found nowhere else in the world. Frogs play a key role in many food webs, both as predators and as prey.

Two species calling. Limnodynastes peronii (confirmed here) and Limnodynastes tasmaniensis. You will need to post the record again to include tasmaniensis

Sorry, my mistake, I knew it was peronii, but I pressed the wrong button. Well picked up Brian, thanks!

Given the prominent stripes and white marking on the top lip, rather than lower, i would think this is L. peronii. However, I am happy to hear Johns thoughts to this being L. dumerillii.

Something to remember for next time. Crinia signifera and parinsignifera can both have this lyrate dorsal pattern and you need to see the belly or hear them calling.

Crinia sp. (genus)
